Guide and tips for secure Internet Banking Session :

1. Log-In information

Your Internet Banking Log-In information (your Customer ID or User Name) is your access to your account/accounts online. Keep your Log-In information confidential. Your Customer ID or User Name should be something you can easily remember but not easily guessed by someone else. Avoid using family names, birth dates, telephone numbers or words that could easily be guessed. Longer Customer IDs or User Names are more secure and more difficult to guess, and we suggest you mix letters and numbers to provide additional complexity.

2.Your Password

Your password (and with some banks the Pay Security Key) are the keys to your online account information. Protect them and change your Passwords on a regular basis - every 60 days. Create a Password that is unique to you and that cannot be easily guessed by someone else. Use a combination of both letters and numbers. (longer passwords are more secure). Do not associate your Password with anything personal such as names, birth dates, telephone numbers, or other familiar words. Memorize your Password and Bill Pay Security Key and never write it down or reveal it to anyone. Note: No one at any bank facility will ever ask you for your password.

3. Log-Off

Always remember to Log-Off Internet Banking and close your browser when you have finished conducting online transactions or visiting secure Web sites. This will help prevent others from being able to view your online banking information at a later time.

4. Don't share your Customer ID

Do not share your Internet Banking Customer ID or User Name and Password with anyone.
Be aware that there are many Internet "phishing" scams that forge or "spoof" other reputable sites and are designed to lure you into providing personal and financial information for identity theft purposes. Only provide information that you initiate through an application, an online transaction or through the normal Log-in/Sign-Up process. Note: Financial institutes will never ask you for your Password via email. .

5. Avoid using public internet locations

Avoid accessing your online banking information at Internet or Cyber cafes, libraries or other public sites that have Internet access.

Be aware of free Wi-Fi wireless connections in public places such as Airport, Internet Cafe, Hotel, Restaurants.
Criminals may set up free wireless networks that act as a trap for travelers. They are not real hotspots but ad hoc peer-to-peer networks set up by an individual with a laptop nearby. They have the same name as a legitimate hotspot at the airport or something similar, such as "Free Airport Wi-Fi". You're able access the Internet when you connect to one of these networks because the attacker has set up his computer to let you browse the Internet via his connection. But because you're using his connection, all your traffic goes through their laptop and they can see everything you do online, including Credit Cards numbers, all your usernames and passwords when you're not using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or a secure web site (the Web Site's URL will start with https://).

6. Use secure web sites

Never input personal information on a web site form or application that does not display the https:// before a web site address or a "padlock" symbol in the lower right hand corner of the web page. These security symbols indicate that the site is secured by encryption technology and the information you enter is protected.
