Job scams are fake job ads posted by fraudsters that try to convince job seekers to give up personal information

The following are useful tips to keep your job seek and resume posting safe:

• Avoid using a Social Security number on your resume.
• Don't provide any non-work related personal information over the phone or online. This includes your hair, eye color, marital status, etc.
• Leave references off your resume if it is posted publicly.
• Never provide credit card or bank account numbers or related information.
• Be cautious when dealing with contacts outside of your own country.
• Never give out your username or password to anyone.
